Yesterday was special day for our church.
Two young girls, Luda and Vika, were baptized. Girls were preparing for this day for almost a year, gathering with older brothers and discussing important Bible truths and doctrines.
We are happy for the sisters, especially Lyuda, whom we met on the project “English with Americans” 9 years ago. During this time, lots of things has happened in her life: doubts, disbelief, misunderstanding, fears that prevented her from trusting God. But God is faithful, He did not leave her and helped Luda make the right decision – to dedicate her life to Christ!
Mary, Ken and Judy, Den and Naomi, you were the Americans who were conducting that project. Now, reading these lines, you can see the result of your work. Thank you so much!
Perhaps, some people may think that it is not very reasonable to be baptized in the autumn, because it is already very cold and you can seriously get sick. You are right, yesterday it was cold and even a little drizzle, and the wind raised waves on the Dnipro river. But in our church there is a tradition not to postpone important things because of the weather.
We left the city in the morning by bus, with friends, relatives, many of whom are unbelievers.
And although the weather at first was unfriendly, but the atmosphere of our entire holiday was warm. The whole church worked hard to make it all good: someone cooked sandwiches and hot tea, someone prepared decoration (actually it was a lot of people who helped).
But probably the culmination of this holiday was when pastor told us that today he is going to baptize THREE people. Three? No two, pastor you are wrong! We were surprised when the third person was Sergei Biletsky. Sergei with his family has been going to church for a long time, he loves Lord and he is showing his faith in Jesus Christ. But the question of baptism was hard and heavy for Sergei. Something did not allow him to trust Christ completely. And according to the great mercy of God, Sergei informed the brothers in the morning of his decision. Thank God! All rejoiced: we and heaven!
